Kevin's "No Place Like Home" Chicken and Mushroom Pie

Reminding the passport slinging travel crew, how it feels to jet-set with a ‘chicken or beef?’ in-flight meal.

Ingredients

  • 30 ml Creamy Garlic Sauce
  • 20 ml Olive oil
  • 1 units medium onion, chopped
  • 2 units garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 units packet of streaky bacon, chopped
  • 250 g mushrooms, chopped
  • 30 ml flour
  • 250 ml warm milk
  • 175 ml cottage cheese
  • 300 g baked chicken strips or cubes
  • 15 ml fresh thyme
  • 1 ml salt
  • 1 ml black pepper
  • 4 units sheets filo pastry

To Serve

  • Perfect with a simple side salad.

    Pre-heat your oven to 200 degrees and prep an oven dish with oil.

    Heat 5 ml oil in a big pot en fry the onion, garlic and bacon for a couple of minutes. Add the mushrooms and creamy garlic sauce and fry for another 5 minutes.

    Place half of the filo pastry in your oven dish. Spoon the mix into the dish and cover with another sheet of filo. Brush with oil.

    Cover with foil and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the foil and bake another 5-10 minutes until the filo pastry is golden brown.
