Humour is part of the way we do things. We firmly believe in the role that laughter plays in the way we move forward as a country and that’s why we are proud to be firing up the Best Friend of Comedy Award at the 2017 Comics Choice Awards.
The Nando’s Best Friend of Comedy Award recognises individuals, groups, organisations, media platforms, brands, agencies or other entities that have provided support, facilitated or championed South African comedy significantly in the last 12 months.
The theme for this year’s Comics Choice Awards is The Freedom of Funny, which is something we hold close to our heart.
The Freedom of Funny is something we need to celebrate and make sure it matters to all South Africans. Despite several challenges to freedom of speech or the fact that we’ve become so sensitive, we need to always remember that no topics are off the table. We need to turn no laughing matter into no laughing matters.
